Go to the TPI forum and ask these questions. The egr valve is part of the tpi engine control system, and is talked about often in the tpi forum. I replaced my egr valve on my 87, but don't remember the part number.

One thing I will tell you is do not buy an egr vavle from anyone but a gm dealer. You need a delco egr valve and nothing else. The tpi forum is littered with posts from guys that tried save a couple of bucks buying a non delco valve and got computer error codes, and bad running engines. The ones that bought a delco valves (including me) don't have any problems at all. So spend the extra few bucks for the delco valve.
