i emailed them and they said i'd have to go with 2.5"...all the way back ..because nobody made y pipes that come to a 3" connection to the cat...i'm going nuts....are they just screwing with me or what ......anyone have part#s or anything that could help me on an 83...i need smoggers..............

I believe you said in another post that you don't have any exhaust right now. Correct?

Quit fretting and get the '86-up TPI for single 3" cat, a 3" high-flow cat and 3" cat-back. All it has to fit is your engine (it's a SBC, right?) and chassis (3rd gen, right?).

It will fit. All the smog fittings will be there. Just do it. If you notice my sig, that's exactly what I'm doing (except I went with the Hooker headers). There's no inspection station in the country that will fail you for having a CARB certified 3" system on an '83.

i know sorry to seem like a yap....i just cant get an answer from anyone....i just dont want to get it ..and have to ship it back........it makes sense ..i'm gonna do it...lots of money for me ....dont wanna waste it. ...yeah its a 78 small block...83 ...soo...ill shut up about it now..

They were telling you that because it obviously wouldn't fit up with a stock 83 cat/cat-back. If you're redoing to the whole exhaust get everything in 3", which means ordering parts for a 86-92 single cat TPI car.

cool i'm ordering them today....found some rocker rust/damage yesturday though....and have to replace 2 floor boards...new doors..and fenders....yay.....
