O2 sensor question

O2 sensor question

heres the deal i have one single wire O2 sensor(not sure if all third-gens have only one single wire) and i have a auto meter air-fuel ratio gague that taps into the O2 sensor now since the O2 sensor runs on only mili volts and the gague takes power from it won't it send the ecm a false single my mechaniac agrees wit this thinkin??? anyone else

Your a/f ratio gauge should have seperate power wires for the gauge. Mine is the one with the tricolor LED display (I think from autometer, I'm at work now so I can't check) and has three wires-power, ground, and signal. Essentially the gauge is a voltmeter, and a voltmeter always has a high impedance (resistance) so that it draws a negligible current, and so does not disturb the circuit.

it should work fine as long as you have a stock setup (mine did, and i added a three wire heated 02 sensor).

the power wires will take care of the "power"...the signal wire really has nothing to do with it. you'll be all set.
