Would large tube headers make this much difference?

You might want to check what the DD2k manual says about header sizes. According to them, even 1 7/8" headers would be considered "small tubes".

First, why are you putting 2.02/1.60" valves on the Vortec heads? Studies have shown the stock valve sizes are fine, and they come from the factory with very good valve angles. Switching will only gain you couple CFM, hardly worth the extra cost.
Next, you're building what type of engine? It looks like a carb 327 from your DD2000 info. What are your plans for this engine? Racetrack or daily driver? 50-state legal or anything goes? We need as much info as possible.

well first of all...Im actually using 416 heads...I have the heads in hand...I will be doing the port work soon...here is another thread...https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=150604
check it out for some pics.
I didnt have the flow file for the 416's so I used what I thought would be the closest.
This will be mostly a drag car eventually....it will have manual steering. (already have the s-10 box) No heat...no emmisions here in NE/Ia..the motor swap has been done for about a year now....this winter I pulled the motor and tranny again...all the mods are in my sig..Im about ready to start putting her back together..Ive just been waiting for warmer weather...no heated garage!
I have the cheapo Summit brand 1 1/2 tubes....Ive maxed out my budget on the other stuff...and I was curious how much power I will miss out on.

I got the latest news from Motion Software that DD2003 is out.
I was going to upgrade after reading all the new features. They've really moved up in the world. You can enter specific cam profiles now.

Plus they have like 100 different head flow files that come with the program, BMEP that you can use to evaluate the use of nitrous-oxide, and a whole lotta other stuff.
As I said, I was going to upgrade but it's $89.95. $134.95 if you buy it outright.
Obviously they feel the upgrades they've made are worth it. I however beg to differ. I'll wait until a few magazines give the reviews first, but even those reviews are paid for.

I'm just pointing out some things the others might find beneficial. Is that OK with you?

Just fine with me.
It kinda looks to me like they've kept the internals the same and just updated the GUI. :lala:

I just downloaded their "DEMO" :nono:
I would NOT recommend that anyone buy it. It's not a whole lot better than DD2000. It's got 'easier' to use "Quick Click" buttons, and prettier colors, but that's about it.
It's not worth my money for the heads flow numbers that you can find in a lot of places on the internet. And it's not THAT hard to enter cam specs manually.

About the only advantage is you can enter both the advertised duration numbers AND the .050" numbers, and it plots the curve for you, but IMHO, it's not worth 90 frickin dollars. That's the only USEFULL difference I saw, and I played with it for about 1/2 hr.

Oh yea...... I just glanced at it again and the other "advantage" (
) is instead of "Dual plane, Single plane" etc. they got this now.

Here's a look at the "Cam Manager" that allows you to enter both the seat-to-seat specs and the .050" specs.

The additional manifold types are ok I suppose. You've always been able to enter cam specs at .050 or from the seat, but changing the ramp rate is new. Probably not worth a $90 upgrade though.
