Exhaust Exit at rear axle and interior smell

Like many of you, I have true duals that exit at the rear axle. I do not have turndowns. I am finally happy with this system, good sound, performance and clearance. If I had it to do over I would have gotten a standard single system as I have put way too much time and money in my trial and error approach. I do not have a cat.

I'm happy EXCEPT the car interior smells bad. Anything left in the car over a day or so such as books and clothes smell bad too, I took a jacket that has been in the car over a week and hung it in my bedroom closet. Shortly the whole bedroom smelled like my stinking car. In the washer it went!

Anyway, do you have the same experience?
Would turndowns help? Should I route the exit over the axle to the rear of the car?

I'm also wondering how much CO I'm inhaling when I drive. Most driving is highway with very little stop and go.

Thanks,
Joey

If you leave it that way, the brain damage you suffer will negate the smell, you won't even notice it after a while.
