2.75" I Pipe and 2.25" cat

how can i make this work? i have a V6, and im thinking of getting a used Z28 catback from an LS1 since my catback on the car i just bought is rusted like crazy. would it be smart to keep a small piece of my stock intermediate pipe attached to the cat, and have an exhaust shop adapt the 2.75" pipe to the 2.25 inch pipe, close to the cat connection? is it possible to have a small reducer adapter thing welded on to mate the two?

That's what I did with my original LG4 cat, etc.

do you know how much the muffler shop charged you to adapt the two, or did you do it yourself? my dad can weld, and im slowly learning, just dont have a lift, so i dont know if i can get down there... lol

I don't have a lift. I did it myself. The piece from the original I-pipe fit inside a 45 degree elbow, which clamped to the 2-3/4" I-pipe I was putting on.

That's the way mine worked, anyway. No exhaust shop involved.
