Sec. 12-602. Mufflers, prevention of noise.
Every motor vehicle driven or operated upon the highways of this State shall at all times be equipped with an adequate muffler or exhaust system in constant operation and properly maintained to prevent any excessive or unusual noise. No such muffler or exhaust system shall be equipped with a cutout, bypass or similar device. No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise of such vehicle above that emitted by the muffler originally installed on the vehicle.

it all depends on the cop-my brother's gotten pulled over for noise with his STOCK 95 TA, but i havent gotten cited yet, and my car's louder than his-so, it's not really enforced here, unless your cop "hates kids driving around in their sports cars" like the one that pulled over my brother (Darien, IL).

haha ya I know how that can be..Well bedford,new bedford it's all in MA. Although there's a guy around my town in a yellow IROC who scares me sometimes..Everytime he sees me he goes out of his way to talk to me and then after we get done talking he always does something stupid with his car. Last time he almost hit a telephone pole in front of the police station.hehe Last time I saw him he came around a corner at about 30 mph chasing a mustang. He's out of his mind.

the reason was becuz he had EXCESSIVE MUFFLER NOISE....now is that stupid or what ....and there were people there with open headers reving their engines!!!.....but anyway he went to court and won cuz i guess even the judge thought that it was a pointless ticket
