"Donut Gasket"???

I went to Autozone to get one, and they say it's not required!!

I got one with the gasket kit for the engine, and I can't imagine not having a gasket in there. I know no gasket goes on the side with the EFE valve, but the other side too??

I'm running TES headers and Hooker catback. Am I supposed to have a gasket or not?

Yes, you're supposed to have one, not on the stock manifolds/ y pipe I believe, but on headersyou do. IIRC on my old Edelbrocks it was on the driver side where it meets the y pipe.

I'm sure down the road you'll need another one, so buy 2

Yup, the stock manifolds don't use gaskets, less maintenance I guess. Dunno why headers aren't made the same way.

Interesting....

That's just it. I had one on my stock manifold too - but you're right that it was on the driver's side. I should probably buy 3...since I have a slight leak on mine right now lol!!!

Hey DevilsAddvocate...do you mean you don't use them by choice, and if so, does it leak??

Just for a follow-up, I called Advance Auto parts, and they list it for both VIN H and 7!! They say it's a 2 3/8 I.D. gasket!

Now I'm really confused. No pun intended..

Well so far, 2 of you say yes- and one says no. Only thing I know is the one I have is squashed beyond recognition... Hmmm....maybe I should have started a poll!!! lol!

I tried to find them at my local autoparts stores but none of them were quite right. Ended up just calling SLP and getting the exact right size..

It was 2.25'' for mine. That was for the LG4 part # headers though.

Yeah Mark, 2.25" sounds about right. The parts store (Advance)said they'd have to order them cause they're listed as 2 3/8". But really...2 1/4 or 3/8 aint a huge difference. He said to bring my old one in, and he'll match one up. BTW, Autozone listed my VIN as a TBI car!! lol. Then they tried to tell me the CCC Q-jet must've been added by someone else!! lol

DevilsAddvocate - I know exactly what you mean! It's kinda a PITA to try and seat the gasket in there the right way and hold up the y-pipe - and put in the bolts...ALL AT THE SAME TIME!! I know your pain!
BTW...which helped you hook up better on your car.. the relocation brackets, the control arms..or both?? If I stomp mine from a dead stop, I spin tires, or wind out too fast. Plus I dont trust my T-5 enough to speed shift. Just curious.

Mike89GTA - I'd call SLP, but if the prices for what they charge for their parts are any indication - I'd never be able to afford the phone call!!! lol

My edelbrock headers take a 2.5" diameter gasket on each side. Well, they used to, at least.
