Catalytic Converter collapse

a few days ago i heard a loud *** rattle right below my passenger seat.....put it up on a lift and found that all the porcelin in the cat collapsed....it sounds a hell of alot better and runs smoother too, but i need to get it inspected because it is a month over due ....my friend has an 89 IROC and his cat is gutted w/ a few holes drilled in it....i was wondering how i could make mine pass emissions if its possible because my friend passes year after year w/ a holey cat....any reccomendations would be great.....by the way i have a 87 v6

another question.....i'm searching for my summer project and i found an 88 monte SS....everything is perfect on it besides a little frame rot.....some say its fixable some say to run in the other direction.....any suggestions/facts/experiences??....he's asking 1,250 or best offer so if u can think of a fair offer let me know too.....thanx alot

not an option.......w/ college just over a year away i can't dump more money into a car w/ more problems.....i dont understand why people say "why didn't u get an 8?"....because u dont have a choice when its a used car sitting in front of someone's house......its not like i went to a dealership and had to choose between an IROC or a SC....come on now...use logic here...and plus i love driving by my friend's IROC right by the gas station

I would recommend staying away from anything that has frame damage of any kind. Be it bent or rusted.

For that matter avoid rust if you can. It only gets worse, not better. Unless you have the time and money to take car of everything it is not worth the trouble.
