Headers

I have been debating for awhile about headers, just when I think that I have one to go with someone says something bad about it. I have headers on it know but I dont know what kind they are but they are small and are constantly leaking. I have a 91 RS, some mods will eventually put in a 350. I want headers that will last, that dont blow gaskets every month, great perforamnce, and easy installation. I have been leaning towards the hooker 2055 and the SLP's. Edelbrock was in the running for awhile but I dont think so anymore. I also need to know the best gaskets and bolts. Please, someone with a lot of knowledge or self experience help.

I've had 2 sets of headers now and both have leaked. I would suggest getting some stage 8 locking bolts, that way they won't come loose. They're about $35 or so.

As far as header gaskets, I've tried regular fel pro and the copper ones. I had better luck with the regular fel pro ones, till one of my bolts completely fell out without me knowing. I wouldn't buy the copper ones again, they're rather thin and my Hedman long tubes didn't seal well.

If you already have headers, I would just stick with what you got, unless you really feel like spending another $350 on a set of Hooker 2055s.

Be sure when you change gaskets or headers, that after you run the engine and let it cool that you go over the bolts again and retighten.

Thanks, so are you saying that hooker 2055s are a good choice here. And do they work for a 91. I know they are deffinitely good up 90 and I am pretty sure about 91 just not positive.

I recomend HEDDMAN.. NO offense... HOOKER ARE GREAT... but when you are on a budget... and about the leak... that has little to do with the headers (especially if you buy them new) It's all about the gasket... and like our friend said "locking header bolts"...
I've had Heddman headers and regular header copper gaskets W/ locking bolts... it's been on my car for over 2 years...WITH OUT A LEAK ONCE... I replaced the gasket about 4 months ago...just on good faith...plus I was about to take of the heads...so i figured WHAT BETTER TIME.
