Choosing my system.. commetns please.
Dad's getting me exhaust for grad present, and now i gotta figure out what i want exactly. I told him all i wanted was the catback, so i have time to delete my AIR and some other things, and get some headers after all that bs.. anyways. Im going to go American Thunder 3" dualout.. the cat is coming out when i do this also. My question is, where the cat is, am i going to have to weld a pipe there to take the place of the cat? What exactly do i need to do. And also, ont he system, what muffler comes with it... is it an "american thunder" muffler? or can i pick throughout the various 80's and 40's yadda yadda. Ive looked around and i just cant find any answer. Any help is nice, and im running a 305 TPI.. thanks!
Rather than getting rid of the whole cat. assembly consider this, take the cat. off, run a big pipe or prybar into the thing and smash out all the insides (don't smash the air pipe out though, if you have one). Now you've just got a big hollow chamber that won't restrict flow, the cat-back exhaust will bolt right up to it, and the system appears "legal" from the outside. I'm not saying this sort of thing has ever been done before since it wouldn't go over well with the law, but in "theory" it works very well!
