Locktight on Muffler Clamps......
I have a Hooker Catback system coming this weekend so hopefully this is going in Saturday Morning. Never done one before, but should be fun. Do you folks use Locktight on Muffler Clamps? Also, do you know what the torque specs are for the clamps so I don't beak off the bolts? Any and all input is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Andy

I've never seen anybody use loctite on the clamps. Most clamps use lock washers so the loctite would not be necessary. As for the torque, honestly I'm not sure if there is an actual torque rating. Usually untill it's tight works, unless someone else knows for sure.

Just tighten them down about two and half turns once the clamp is contacting the pipe all the way around. There is no real science to it though, so until its tight works just fine. Locktite would probably burn up anyhow on exhaust components, otherwise no 8-stage locking bolts would be nessacarry. Pleasant thought for those of us on a tight budget.

OK folks!! I appreciate your help on this. No threadlock and conceivably, no need for a torque wrench. For anyone interested though, after a few hours of looking, I have found that the recommended torque for 3\8" exhaust clamps is 20 ft\lbs. Thanks for the replies.
