New Hooker Cat-Back - Need help!!
I am trying to install Hooker Cat-Back system part# 16820. This is a direct fit for my 89 IROC L03. Or it would be a direct fit, if there was'nt a cheap universal Cat installed with 2 1\4 in and out.
This cat is only 14" from input to output and has no flange on it. The Hooker intermediate pipe is designed to hookup to the OEM cat with a flange. A few questions:
1) How would you go about this?
2) Would you replace the cat (which only passed NOX by 1point anyways)
3) Would you cut the Hooker intermediate pipe and use reducers to make it fit?
4) Would you throw in a Catco cat? If so, which part# would match up closest to OEM size specs?
Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Andy

I have the same cat back, and I used a test tube in place of the cat. If I were you, I would defenitly go for the high flow cat if you have to pass emissions, or straight tube if you do not. I would not, however, try and reduce the hooker pipe to fit the old cat, as that would be defeating the purpose of a high flow exhaust system.
I can't confim the numbers, however, so either keep searching around or trust the parts listing, often times they are correct
