SMOG Equipment
Im in the process of installing the AIR system on a 86' 350 engine. I visited the junkyard today and saw many complete setups, but wondered what the different years meant to the smog setup. Could i use a AIR system from any year 350? and does the computer have anything to do with the system ?

The computer simply commands where the flow goes, depending upon whether it's in open or closed loop operation.
You'd be best advised to get a system off a car that is similiar to yours with regard to year and induction system. The hoses were routed differently, the belts were done differently, the check valves pointed in different directions, etc.

Hmm, this will seem to be a ever growing project. The car itself is a 84TA, but i have no idea what year the engines from. the guy i bought it from said that the engine was taken out of an 86 el camino.

You should be okay using parts from any '82-'86 carb'd 3rd gen.
