Header and starter heat shield...pics inside

Well, before I could mount the heat shield I had to bolt up the starter ,then reattach the wiring to position it away from the header. To put the heat shield on, I then had to add some slack up top and unbolt the starter , drop the starter way down with wiring attached, then bolt on the shield. It all fell right bak into place and the Hedman header stayed nicely out of the way!

Hard to tell from this pic , but the top of the shield folds up over the solenoid and wiring

do you really need to worry about heat soak when you have headers that are coated? I dont have any plans to put one on my starter... maybe i should for extra protection...

I was thinking about doing the same thing with mine. My car has been down for a few weeks now also hehe up on car ramps and all. I just reran all the wires so they will be safe from the headers they were to close for me in some places.

My headers are coated but that didn't save my started...ended up putting a GM mini starter on after the heat killed my other one and put a heat wrap on it. The wrap/shield is definately worth it.
