info about cats please
i live in oklahoma where we have no inspections, i want a better exhast but know that the cats will hinder the cars sound, performance etc... i have heard about hollowing out a cat. what exactly does the cat do is it just to collect unspent fuel to clean the air? to make backpressure what if i just get all new pipe running back to a muffler would that hurt the car in the long run should i just get an aftercat exhast. any help would be much appreciated
Well, if you live somewhere where there is no inspection, then there is no need for a cat. It will not hurt anything by removing it- maybe throw a light though...
Anyways, people who have smog inspections often hollow them out to make it look like they have a cat (which they do) but it is just straight-through, and illegal. I have inspections, but I'm not going to bother messing with my new carsound cat...it works great for me, hey it's A LOT better than my original one that was plugged! -89IRO

If you end up wanting to buy an aftermarket high-flow cat, I have a 3" in, 3" out one for sale, you can have it for 40 bucks.
