Low Exhast Note

Hey guys. Currently I own a 305 TPI Firebird, but I'm going to change to a 350 soon. Right now, I have stock exhast all the way back except for a flowmaster muffler and some Bling Bling tips (Not my doing).

Two of my friends own mustangs, one a 1990 and one a 1967. The 1990 has a single chamber flowmaster with no cats and is deep, low sound and its LOUD. It sounds really nice. My other friend has a 1967 Mustang Fastback with stock exhast up to two dynomax turbo plus mufflers and side exhast. This car has like a motorcycle sound, a deep Wahing sound - I think its because its an auto and doesnt rev that high.

My car sounds - loud. Thats it. Its a loud, not deep, annoying sound. I'm trying top get it to sound as nice as I can, so I've turned to the board. What would this car sound like with dynomaxs? How would I accomplish a nice deep low sound? Thanks guys!

Well, your 305 isnt going to sound as good as your new 350 will sound. Headers going into a nice Flowmaster or Borla exhuast, should sound nice. Now, hook it all up with a nice loopy cam. Sound even better.

i guess more specifically is I plan to go from headers and then take out the cat (weld in the brackets so i can put it back for smog) and then go into a BLANK. That blank I'm debating stock piping and another muffler or a cat back. Does a cat back make a difference over normal exhast tones? Is it better/worse? Why do that over just normal exhast?

Thanks!
