Are the V6 and V8 cat backs different?

I was looking throught some catbacks and noticed that some were for 82-92 5.0ls and others for 86-92 5.0l/5.7l. Are they different mounting wise?

If they are the same mounting wise, why are there different classifications? What makes them different?

Different years had different flanges on the cat, so there are different cat-backs so you can just bolt it right on and not have to weld.
