more money going out, so they have to have more coming in. $600 for a cat-back is a rip off imo. i like my slp, but thats still $400, but i got mine used for 1/2 price
unfortunately for Borla that is not the case..If you check out national Drag sponsorship totals Borla has gone WAY down in payouts due to some financial issues I had heard about some time ago.Their stuff is good, but wasy overpriced and not worth it IMO....Are they the best you ask?....NO

I think Borla sounds ok. I heard one on a IROC, sounded great from mid to low. But at WOT it sounded too raspy for me.

Yeah, most Borlas I've heard have that sound. I've only heard 1 that had a pretty cool sound and I don't think they make that particular system anymore.

Borla only sounds raspy if you run a closed plate,. With no plate its deep and loud with a some what metallic sound at WOT. At cruising speeds is when it takes some getting used to...

sound is subjective to EVERYONE!...what i like may not be what 10 other people like...the question was :is Borla the Best?...and the resounding answer is NO,NO,NO...There are other systems out there that are all stainless and just as good,if not better & they sound better too

, my opinion right
the Borla does sound good on an LT1,but by the same token does not sound all that great on an LS1...engine variances have a lot to do with the sound an exhaust system will emit as well.Bottom line,if you like the sound and are willing to pay twice as much as a comparable stainless system...go for it!

Blomasters. That's funny.
Where can I buy a Borla muffler?
One of the guys in a local car club has the set up on his 94 camaro, and it sounds mean as hell.
I want to buy one, but I can't find them. So any and all help would be greatful.

I like my Borla system a lot. I run it with the biggest hole plate in there and its not that loud at idle and cruising speeds. According to the Linegengelter book on building SBC motors it is the best performance wise. YOu the man John!

Just because their logo is on the car doesn't always mean that thats whats actually on the car. I've seen many drag cars sponsored by Hooker that had custom made headers in it, not a Hooker set.

I think Borla sounds like ****!!! In my opinion, if you want to sound like you have Borla exhaust, go down to the auto parts store and get yourself some cherry bombs and save $500 or so dollars. Thats what it sounds like to me.
Right now I have Headmen shorties, cat delete pipe, and Hooker cat back on my 383 superram with 224/230 comp cam motor. The exhasut has a very throaty idle, 900rpm, but opens up and gets loud like a frieght train at 3000rpm. I just got Hooker 2210s with Mufflex 3.5" back with spintech dual 3" out setup. It isnt installed yet but I am sure it is gonna sound real good and I damn sure that the Spintech cat backs will outflow the other stuff any day of the week, Borla included.

I recieved a Borla system from Summit. It didn't have the tips that I expected when I plucked down $550. I almost kept it anyway, until I realized what kind of idiot I'd be for trying to put this silly system on that comes in a 1,000 pieces. I'm sure it's not that bad, but I'd rather weld a couple pipes as opposed to playing with clamps for a whole day. Overall, the system seemed to be top notch quality, but I didn't like tips, and I'd be dammned if I was going to put that thing on the car.

Heh...I got a Borla system...
I tell you what, if anyone in the southern California area wants to hear a Borla, come to Redlands and here my new car. 387 hp at the wheels LT4 95' Tran Am.
In my opinion, BORLA is
the very best system you can buy, know why????
IT'S ADJUSTABLE!!!!
I haven't heard the non-adjustable Borla systems before, maybe they stink. The exhaust on this car sounds so freakin' awesome everywhere thru the driving range I swear I got a hard on for the first few days I drove the car.
When I first bought the car I was told that it had the plate in it that had a hole the size of a pencil. I wanted to try a bigger one just to see, but it was already awfully loud. Come to find out, he had it totally blocked off. I couldn''t believe it. I smiled, put the other plate in on a lift at my buddies shop, cranked it over and set off 2 car alarms in the parking lot.
The square tips are awesome, but if you don't buy the system there are super pricey.
My second favorite that cost much less and sounds quite comparable ( when the plate is completely blocked off) is my Dynomax Ultra Flo Stainless. I have it on my 91' with a intermediate pipe from a super turbo sytem, it sounds awesome. I got the muffler new in the box off of Ebay for 50 bucks, that's a steal.
Here's what I have had on 5 different f-bods after which I can say Borla is the shiznit:
Stock LG4 piping and a Flowmaster 80
Stock LG4 piping with a staright pipe in place of cat with a magnaflow muffler
Modded L03 with Hooker headers, and a DynoMax super turbo system
L03 with Vortec heads (the 330hp 91RS) with a 2.5 inch y-pipe into a flowmaster y-collector, the hooker shorties, 3 inch intermediate pipe, and an Ultra Flo Stainless muffler
L69 ( 310 c.i.) modded to about 290 hp or so: Edelbrock headers, 2.5 inches back to a flowmaster 80 ( it sounds great, really taseful but still with the trademark flowmaster tone.)
LT4 super modded with JBA headers, gutted cat, and a Borla adjustable.....= just plain wicked ( I have the plate on that has about a 1.25-1.5 inch hole)
Sorry for the long post, hope it helps.

I like the sound on my borla. Its different with gen1 SBC's than it is with say an LS1. I think the LS1's with a Borla sound excellent. Its not as good with a regular SBC though.
I like mine because I have an electric plate so all I have to do is hit a switch to turn off that noise

it is fine if you have the square intercooled tips on there like Borlazo6,but the Borla 14888 system that is for our cars DOES NOT come with those tips ..It comes with small round angle cut tips that look like pure as*...You need to take the old ones off and put the square ones on...if you think you are getting a system with those square tips you will be VERY dissapointed!...Still way to much $$ for me though when i can get something just as nice for half the price and spend that extra savings on something else for the car

To each his own I guess. I didn't think I would like the normal tips either, but I got the system used for a good price and decided they look pretty nice as well. Here is a pic. Yes the square intercooled fourth gen type look nicer I suppose. I bought this system because, like I said I got a good price, and I was looking for performance more than sound. The sound is OK too tho. Without the plate or the biggest hole plate in you are basically completely bypassing the muffler with = less resistance = more flow, etc.

By the way, here is an interesting comparison of how the system comes new (in a million pieces as someone said) and how I got my used system in about 3 pieces. They guy I got it from said that supposedly it is a bolt up system, but that it is better to weld it. He ground of the welds in a few spots to be able to box it up and send it and I had it rewelded at the shop, worked out fine

I'm redoing my exhaust within the next month er so, and I'd
like to buy a Borla tunable.
Thanks

just a muffler
would it be possible to get just the muffler that I could bolt onto my flowmaster 3 inch pipes? I would like the adjustability at the muffler end but im happy enuff with the 3 inch stainless pipes,
