Mufflers Ballooning Outward???

I have a '72 Camaro I just bought a little over a month ago. I have no idea what mufflers are on it but they're literaly swelling.

It's a 350 w/Vortec heads, and what look to be Summit cheapo headers.

Is it actually possible there is so much backpressure within the mufflers to cause them to do that???

Anyone have any experience with mufflers doing this? I'm dumbfounded.

They're slowly going from oval to round. Eventually I'm sure they're going to blow the seams.

Actually, I was thinking, and with some of the other stupid stuff that the guy did to that car before you got it, it wouldnt suprise me if he put them on backwards. Some mufflers dont do so hot if you put them on oposite of the intended flow direction.

Yea.

The truth is CarX put them on, but that don't mean crap.

Time for some Ultra Flows.
