I love my Hooker 2055's!!
Well I just got done installing the Hooker 2055's, took all day but it is so well worth it. They are awesome! The stock headers....I don't understand how those were even considered headers at all they are like... exhaust logs. I hate to see the cam and heads in these cars.
I don't have enough money to get anything from the cat on back done for a while so right now my exhaust is just dumping right after the cat.(sounds sweet) Does the catco hi flow cat offer enough back pressure so that I don't drop a valve?
Thanks
Jason

Anyway, did you get the headers coated?

speaking of coating...
i see you live in VA. there's a place here called G&T Enterprises that does exhaust coatings that are supposed to be better than Jet-Hot. I checked out their shop, and they had some stuff in their people had sent them that had jethot coatings, and were paying these people to take them off, and apply their coating! they quoted me $250 for a set of headers, but the shine is better, and they have a better warranty. pm me if you'd like more info.
i'm gonna take mine there. considering even getting my intake done, but i don't know if i'd net any gains from that, other than it looking slick. they do brakes too. real cool guys.

Backpressure is never a good thing. And lack of it has nothing to do with "dropping a valve".
The "issue" with open exhaust is warping a valve that is held open when the engine is shut off (happens to be in that position when the engine stops turning). Uneven cooling can occur if cold air rushes in through the open pipe and that can cause warping. But, we're talking about a very short distance between the valve and pipe opening in order for this to happen, and typically the pipe has to point up for the cool air to even flow down to the valve. Obviously, this is nothing like your current setup, even with the "open" cat.
Also, the cat retains enough heat that any flow back through the system would be warmed enough to prevent the valve warping, anyway. I've had the exhaust open on the '57 out at the race track for years, without warping a single valve. Not even a cat on that system.
Oh, I like the 2055's, too...

I upgraded over the Winter from my Edelbrock headers to 2055's based on five7kid's happiness w/ them, also a big fan now.
If money's tight, I'd go junkyard shopping for a used cat-back before I gave up and just dumped straight off the cat.

yea man the 2055's are great! I have had them for probably 3-4 months. They really woke up my engine and the sound with my american thunder catback blended in really nice and my car sounds mean not to mention that gain i got thru them! highly recommended
