Adapter/Resonator Query, Exhaust Pro's Needed

Hey Guys,

We just finished both pulling out a 454 from my 1986 IROC, then re-installing the stock 305. Both the original exhaust manifolds, and corresponding Y-Pipe for the IROC were tossed, but luckily I had an older Edelbrock set-up lying around in the garage...

Here's my question;

The ending of the Edlecbrock Y-pipe has a 2 1/4 end, in which I now have to mate it up with a 3" Converter (gutted of course). Does anyone know where I can get an adapter/resonator that connects 3" to 2 1/4 ID?

Summit Racing has one for a 3" OD to 2 1/4" OD (Outer Diameter).... but as bad luck would have it, they don't offer one for an Inner Diameter. I checked with local muffler shops, and since the Cat was gutted.... they obviously won't even go near it (of course), and was curious to see if anyone here knows an aftermarket company that could possibly fabricate one for me....

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks

Looking for better gas mileage, eh?

How much can you do yourself, like welding? A 2-1/2" pipe ID is only slightly larger than the OD of the 2-1/4" pipe. Have a shop expand a piece of 2-1/2" to 3" OD, then install on the y-pipe. If you have a welder, weld them together. If not, clamps will work. A hobbiest expander will do to help snug the y-pipe up to the new adapter, but will not expand the 2-1/2" piece like you need to fit the cat inlet.

I'd say weld it like five7 suggested. That's what I would do at least. If you can't weld or don't have access to a welder a competent exhaust shop will be able to do it.

Thanks guys!

Yeah... The local muffler shop just said to bring the adapters in, minus the converter (after countless times of asking lol), and they welded it to a perfect fit for me.
