Electric cutout, butterfly plate supposed to be 2.5" for 3" cutout?

Electric cutout, butterfly plate supposed to be 2.5" for 3" cutout?
Guys with the QTEC's, I just got mine today. I open the box and the opening of the QTEC only measures 2.5". The box is marked QTEC30, which is supposed to be the 3". Did I get the wrong one or do they use 2.5" butterflies in the 3" cutouts for clearence???
