3 options.....which to do????
Ok I've got 3 options for exhaust.
1) Keep stock LG4 exhaust
2) Put in exhaust from a TPI car
3) Get all new exhaust
I'm kinda pinched for cash so option 3 would have to wait so I guess what I'm asking is.............Would it be worth the trouble of putting in the bigger exhaust from a TPI car in the car or should I just wait?
My setup is an '87 LG4 converted to TPI w/ LT1 cam.
Thanks,
Mark

definitely get a completely new exhaust. both the other options are definitely going to hurt performance. not worth switching to exhaust off of a tpi. id suggest a 3" catback. so....just use the exhaust setup you have now until you can afford a 3" catback. there are several options out there for around $200, but you might also want to spend money on headers and a y-pipe.
The stock tpi exhauast has been dynoed on a stock 305 tbi and made an additional 12 rwhp over the crappy L03/LG4 exhaust. I would still say go with all aftermarket headers and catback and you will gain a lot!

So would switching to the TPI exhaust be benificial say while I save up for a year or two to get new exhaust? I had already planned on atleast a 3" catback but I've noticed that the y-pipe on the TPI exhaust is bigger so I would probably want to use it with the 3" catback if I couldn't get the headers/y-pipe right?
