problem with heddmans and slave cylinder
ok today i was putting the headers in and i discoverd that the driver side woul not go in with that little metal shield on the slave cylinder...so i took that off and put some nuts and bolts there to hold it tight...i try again and the header gets high enough to line up with the bolt holes on the head, but its tilted in to far...meaning the bottom of the flange is touching the head but the top is about a 1/4 inche away..
i tried to tell what it was hitting on and it looks like its the frame rail right next to the 3rd primary on the D side (#5) that are hitting...
also i dont have the motor mount bots completly tight yet...will taht make much oif a difference?...im gonna do that tomorrow but i dont think that will make much if any difference...
the funny thing is..i got these headers off my buddy who also has a 86 z 28 witha 5 speed...even his dual exhaust bolted right up to my car...so there shouldnt be a reason why its not working on my car...
ANY IDEAS??

there are the long tubes right? are you putting it in from the bottom or the top? i found the drivers side header goes in best from underneatht the car. the passenger side goes in best from the top. and by goes in best, i mean these were the only ways they would go in for me.

yea there the long tubes...when i dropped the motor in i tried to do it with both headers on...after i figured that wouldnt work i took off the drivers side and put the motor in..after i had it in i raised the drivers side a little and slid it in..
so both headers are in i just cant get the flange flat against the head because its hitting hte fram rail

i used my persuader today and they bolted up just fine
and tightneing the motor mounts bolts didnt do anything as far as clearance...the "persuader" did though
