How loud is normal for a car with no cat?

I know this question belongs in the exhaust question, but I usually get much better responses here than in the rest of the forum, so here it goes:

How loud is your car? Mine used to be mega quiet, I took the cat off and it got a tiny little bit louder... Then I removed some TF&TF style back boxes the previous owner had fitted and bloody hell! The thing is mega loud now!!! Everything behind the cat (well, behind the y-pipe now) doesn’t look stock, it is still silvery and new looking which makes me think that perhaps it is a performance cat back system. This would explain why it is louder and why the previous owner felt the need to fit the back boxes.

It sounds like a Nascar racer now!!! Idle is MEGA loud, fortunately the high revs aren’t as loud as the idle would lead you to believe. But waiting at traffic lights is like “Booobooom boooboooom boooooboooom”

So how loud are these cars with no cat? Mine is much louder than any stock 3rd gen I have seen back in the old country. Would just removing the cat make it this loud???

Tis fun to show off to friends though

My car with stock exhaust and without the cat wasn't loud at all. Now that I'm running true duals with aerochamber mufflers it's fairly loud, but not obnoxious or anything. Loud is kind a relative term, I consider loud to be open headers, but that's just me...

Edit: It's fun running around with open headers, when you rev people literally jump.... Bad thing is you have to watch for cops

Slap some headers on there and you'll see some volume

as i'm sure Felix and Damien will testify, my car with a cat and a flowmaster 80 series, is still pretty quiet, felix on the other hand (no cat) isn't at all quiet, so i'd say they have quite an effect.

Does Felix not have a set of headers on there too though? That's a night and day difference in itself.
