well that kinda sucks..I am sure Banks will make right by things..Keep in mind guys since the 3rd gen system is NOT part of their everyday catalog item,it stands to reason something like a special order can take longer to build and ship than usual. If you really want the dual outlet thing like mine, just call them and change your order..change it to just the intermediate pipe and get the FOUTH GEN muffler section like I did and make the hanger change...no big deal and you will get what you want!...Its all based on demand boys!...The more they hear from us about getting the system back into major production, the better chances are it will happen. The ONLY thing that could possibly be outsourced would be the polishing of the tailpipes...that would be it.Entec are a great bunch of guys too and I am sure it will all turn out great....I am sure they have been all over Banks *** about getting it out to you.trust me,it is worth the wait!!!

If you want a soundclip send me a PM with your e-mail address and I will foreward it to you!

Waiting it out

Subzero,

You are right about the guys at Entec. They have been on the job trying to cajole Banks into getting something done.

I wish I had known about the delay in production. It would have made a diffrence in my buying decision. As of now, I am waiting to see what happens with the Banks system. They have a great reputation for producing quality products so if it doesn't take too long it will be worth the wait.

I was hoping to get this done before it got real cold. Bang a knuckle and it hurts. Bang a knuckle in the cold and it hurts like hell! We've probably got about four weeks before the REAL cold gets to South GA.

I'm going to wait a bit and see what happens. In the meantime I guess I will have to decide on what my second choice should be.

have you tried to change the order to the dual outlets and just make the change yourself like I did?...since that is what you wanted anyways and if there is a delay on the pipes that come out on the same side it may end up being better for you if they have that muffler section in stock?...just a thought

SubZero,

Yeah, I suggested to Entech that since they were almost certainly producing the fourth gen exhaust that making the change that you suggested might speed things up. Entech called banks and it was then that they were told that the design for the thirdgen exhaust had been changed to outlets on either side. They said that changing the order would not change anything as it was the same pipes involved either way...

As long as it doesnot take too long I'm going to try to wait it out.

Thanks for the suggestion.

ah I see....well if that is what eric said then I am sure he is on top of it...I just figured if they had the over axle pipe and the muffler section in stock for the 4th gen you could easily make the change to your existing system and make it work..

KEN from entec called me back today says Banks can ship me out the catback today if i want the muffler with one outlet on each side, and get the to give me express shipping or a discount back. i was hopping for the 2OTL eanted something different but either way im sure this will be a very high quality piece.

Same Here

Talked with Ken earlier today. My Catback is being shipped today and he is working with banks to negotiate either a discount because of the delay or express shipping.

The guys ad Entech have been done a great job of customer service. I would recommend them highly to anyone looking for an Exhaust System. In the decision making process they gave good information. In the time since placing the order they have been accessable and professional in all their dealings with me. They stayed on top of the situation of the delay with Banks and have looked out for my best interests all along the way.

Thanks Entech!

So does this mean that we can no longer purchase the two outlet on the left hand side version? That bites, since that is what i wanted to get...

great to hear!....Told ya entec was a top notch outfit to get hooked up with ..Yeah,I am sure you can still get the (2) on the left side, but since that is obviously an older design it may take longer to get built as in the case with you boys.

I like the outlets on both sides better but was willing to settle for the two on the left if that was all they had...

I am happy that it worked out that we were able to get the outlets on left and right instead of the two on the left...

I guess I will go ahead and start soaking everything under the car with PB Blaster to get ready!

O2 Sensor Question

I have a question some of you might be able to answer.

Are all O2 sensors created equal or does one offer an advantage over the others?

Thanks!

RUSTY STAINLESS

BEWARE OF BANKS!

I received my much awaited Banks Catback system yesterday. I eagerly opened the box anticipating finally getting to see the brand new Stainless Steel exhaust system that would complete the new system on my car. Everything in this system had been ordered to be rust resistant. I wanted to do it once and forget about it. The first thing I saw upon opening that box was RUST! WTF? On the seam where the intermediate pipe was anealed was one long line of RUST! Looking at the pipe it looked a lot more like galvanized steel than stainless steel to me. My experience with metals comes from working for a plumbing distributer so I had a pretty good idea what both metals should look like. I seemed to remember that stainless steel should have little or no attraction to a magnet. I did the magnet test and there was a strong attraction to the magnet.

I called Engine Technologies the company from whom I bought the system and they called Banks. Entech had a Technician from Banks call me back about the problem. The Tech (I forget the name) confirmed two things for me. 1. There should be little or no attraction between the stainless steel and the magnet. 2. Stainless Steel should not rust under normal atmospheric conditions and certainly should not have shown rust in the time it took it to get from the factory to me. We ended that conversation with the Tech saying that he was going to go out on the production floor to see what is going on.

This morning the same Banks Tech called me back with a diffrent tune. He said they were using ### stainless steel and there would be an attraction between that metal and a magnet. He still couldnot explain the rust on the intermediate pipe.

Since I have wasted a whole MONTH waiting on them to get this system manufactured and sent to me I agreed to accept a replacement intermediate pipe and go ahead and use the system. I'm still not real happy about it.

I still question the quality of the metal in this system. From what I had read I had expected the same quality as a Borla or SLP system at a lesser price. I now have reason to doubt that assumption. I guess like with most things you get what you pay for...

As far as Engine Technologies (Entech) goes, They have been great. I have absolutley no complaints with them. They are great guys to do business with!

I'd be interested in seeing some pictures if you have them (of the rust of course)

I'll probably start on the exhaust system changeover thursday or friday. I will try to get pic of the pipes and rust up then.

I like the look of the system but I am still dubious about the quality of the metal in those "Stainless Steel" pipes

LBSZ28BLOWN,

Thanks for the Pics of your system. Looks like banks was probably still using good materials six years ago when you got your system. The problem firebirdpl and I have is that our systems arrived from the factory with rust on them... NOT GOOD!

Email

I emailed my "Rusty Stainless" posting above to one of the BANKS techs. The guy I emailed was not the same one I talked with on the problem. His was the only email address for a human that I had. I got that address from a request for information prior to purchasing the system. He was very helpful. Hopefully he will get the email to someone who might respond.

We need to know. Does Banks intend for their systems to be as good as SLP or BORLA or only "Just Good Enough?"

well, that is the same muffler I have and although my tips are different, they are polished like those..I am sure they are still using the same muffler.Mine has some heat discoloration as does the pipe in the pic,but that is normal wear and tear.Seems very strange that the pipe showed up with rust on it?..if it is that obvious to you ,then it should have been obvious to someone over there.Mistakes do sometimes happen though, regardless of who you are dealing with.Sunds to me like they are trying to get it resolved for you though & I would think they will make it right for you guys. And to think,I have been a big fan of this system as well as some of the other guys here ..Hopefully it was an oversight on somebody's part and you guys can get your systems on there and enjoy the sound and power

Well the e-mail was passed along but since my name was mentioned I will chime in. We are doing everything in our power to remedy the situation. I apologize personally for any inconvenience.

No problem Chuck! I just pulled the pipe that is being replaced. At first glance you will swear it is aluminized. I grabbed some metal polish and hit a spot for a few minutes and it looked sweet.
The guys said it is 413 stainless. If my memory serves me well the 4 series has carbon in it which is why it will attract a magnet. Keep me posted on how the install and test drive goes.

Magnets will stick to some stainless alloys. For the record, my SLP has some discoloration/rust and magnets do stick to the pipes. Rust may be too harsh a word. It is more like a light dusting of oxidation. Yeah, ok, rust.

Your best bet is to call Entech. It is possible to order directly from Banks but it is well worth it to deal with Entech. If you have a problem they do a very good job following up and making sure everything gets taken care of FAST!

Entech:801 265 0994 and speak with Eric.
