complete exhaust

how much do you guys think it would cost me to get a complete custom exhaust done with a electronic cutout. this needs to be a 3 inch exhaust with a cat. this includes headers. i jut want a ballpark estimate because i need to start planning how much this all is going to cost me. im thinking about putting the cutout before the cat. do you guys know if any shops would be willing to do this or is it illegal. i live in maryland so emissions are a concern and i have to have a cat on my exhaust setup so i can pass the sniffer test. but i would like to have an electronic cutout before the cat so i can run open headers at the flip of a switch. thanks

Headers could be somewhere between $65-$600, cat will likely be around $100, cat-back could be about the same range as the headers. I think an electric cutout is about $150. That puts you between $400 - $1500, depending on brands, without labor.

Labor could easily double that at some shops. Cost depends greatly on what brands you choose and who does the installations. Do some searches to find out what's best for you, half of the threads on this board are opinions on these things.

Your cheapest bet is to just grin and bare it and install it yourself. I would only spend money on having the stuff welded once you get it in. Installation of headers will cost you a fortune. Most catbacks can be installed anywhere from 70 to 150 bucks.
