Is anyone running cats with long tubes?

Just wondering if it's possible to fit cats under our cars with long tubes and still having some ground clearance? Also, are there any companies that make round (cylinder shaped) cats rather that the kind of rectangle shape that's more common? Round ones seem like they might be a little easier to package in tight areas.

I have Long tubes with Random techs 81000 series cats 2.5in - but they are installed directly after the X-pipe about 8 inches aft the X-member.

I'm pretty sure theres room to put this size cat at the collector - I just put mine after the X-pipe for performance reasons - they do light off

I have a Tremec so I'm not real sure about clearance with autos

the cats were 169.00 ea

About the cylindrical cats - I've only seen em in under carriage pics - maybe Random tech can help you with that.
good luck

Do you have any pictures of your setup? Do you have/pass emissions testing? Is that what you meant when you said "they do light off"?

I'll check - not sure if I took pictures

I'm required to do emmisions where I live - I just registered the car in a state that doesn't require it - but now I want to be legit

I thought I might have a problem geting the cats hot being back by the cross member but the length of pipe from the cats to the engine is about the same as with Edelbrock's TES - I just wanted the exhaust to go through the X-pipe before the cats

I havent done the emmision test yet - got a lot of projects going- but since the temperature of pipe exiting the cats is hotter than on the inlet side when the engine is up to temp I think it'll be ok

my cats clear quite nicely, they are car sound 2.5" hi flows. they aren't any thicker than the pipe itself as far as depth is concerned, I have a hanger that supports them a bit, they are maybe .5" lower than my cat back was, nothing to fuss over!

Awesome, that's really reassuring. Any pics of your setup?
