I was wondering if anyone knew how old a car has to be in order not to have pass emissions in King County.

here in NJ your car has to be 25 yrs or older and registered as i think a classic or antiqe car and then u get QQ lisences plates for it. but u cant use the car everyday and only aloud to i think 3k miles per yr and must have a working odometer. and you wont have to go to inspection anymore excupt i think to see if your odometer works and for safety.

It varies from state to state, county to county.

It would probably be a whole lot quicker to just pick up the phone and call the emissions center.

I think in alot of states it's '75 and newer for smogg checks. '75 was the big year that smogg equipment on new cars went into overtkill, with miles of vacuum lines and restrictive intake and exhaust equip. '75 was also the first year for cat. converters, first year for no dual exhaust option, and stupid 5 mph bumper laws.
