Ruttling from exhaust
Rattling from exhaust
I was out driving around today with the windows down, the first time in a few weeks because of the cold. But as i was driving i would hear a rattler or sometimes a whine from the right (passenger) side of the car. It was typically in the mid to upper rpms. I have a stock cat and a dynomax super turbo crossflow muffler. Does anyone have any suggestion on this? I'm planning to put in a flowmaster 80 series and eventually a highflow cat but the muffler's a month or two away and the cat won't be till late spring. Does anyone have any suggestions about the rattling and whining?

Rattling?? You gotta get underneath the car and check the exhaust hing that supports the centerpipe right at the cat. It is a small hing with a rubber suspension piece. Over time the rubber deteriorates and tears, or completely cuts off. When that happens there can be some really annoying rattling that comes up, when it's happened to me I've noticed it comming from the passenger (right side) aswell.

Ah mannn, you know that is a really good question! Probably like from one of the speed shops or garages specializing in fbodies. Also, maybe online or mailorder. You know, I went to a regular exhaust shop and they didn't have that piece. Our cars are getting older and these shops don't readily have them in stock. Getting that piece in just as hard! Man, I dropped into a parts place here in Toronto for Chevy parts (Paradise Alley) and the dude wanted to charge me $75 for a used/worn piece (unbelievable!). Anyways, it's nice to know I have contacts who had a piece fabricated for me. Hmmmmm, maybe even try a scrapper. Anyways, check it out, hopefully it's something else.
