Catalytic Converters Price: How possible? Problems!

Turns out 1 of my cats is broken inside and has a MAJOR rattling problem (among no torque, LOUD exhaust, and off and on loss of power.

I was quoted, if Canadian Tire ordered them (apparently reconditioned) at costing $450cdn (Don't know brand) each from my very trusted buddies at Canadian Tire.. They could not order any now and suggested I go to LORDCO.

I went to LORDCO (parts place) and they, with my 30% Camarosource.ca discount, got them for $106cdn EACH?? for 2, that is a savings of $688..

I don't see how this is possible! Apparently these are "Universal-fitl" from "Walker" brand..

http://www.walkerexhaust.com/catconv.htm

The very bottom is the EXACT one.

Are these crappy? How can they be be SO incredibly cheaper than the others?? There are no branding on the box (plain cardboard box with a Catalytic shaped logo that says "Catalytic Converter" in the middle. There is nothing anywhere (including the warrenty card which only says "Catalytic Converter" as being the brand (??). The only way I know these are a "Walker" brand is because they told me that at LORDCO.

Need opinions.. Thanks.

UPDATE: According to the model number "15032" on the box, this is an UNIVERSAL STANDARD converter... Is this worth it? or should I take it back? Apparently it shows on the net as only being worth $69us.

Walker cats are good, as well as Catco. All they do is make exhaust products, so they can make them cheaper. The quality of fine, go ahead and use them.

Not sure what those prices translate into American currency, but I've seen Catco cats for as little as $120 US.

Walkers run around $69us

What about performance wise compared to the stock ones that are on the car? Are the walkers better, worse, the same as the stock ones that came with the Camaro?

Any idea how to tell whether or not the ones on the camaro are stock?

The Walkers generally flow as well or better than the stock cats. The body of the Walker or Catco is usually shorter than the factory cat, although the entire length is the same. When you look at it, it will have 3-4 inches of pipe on both the inlet and outlet where as the stock converter will have about 2 inches. I don't have a picture to compare, but you can tell by looking at them and sometimes they will have the manufacturer's name on the heat shield. Maybe someone else on the board has a photo.
Also, the stock cats may have a name on them. It's been a while since I looked.

Go on ebay.. A ton of people are selling Carsound cats, which IMO are way better. They have slip fit inlets (expanded to ID to slide over your stock stuf).

They go for roughly 30.00 each.
