I have two questions about my 88 IROC 350.

1) If I want to replace my cat with a straight pipe, what steps do I need to take?

And if I decide to leave my cat on......

2) Would it be bad if I left my cat-back disconnected and ran the exhaust out of the cat?

Right now the cat-back is disconnected and it sounds AWESOME!
Any advice?

 

for 1, just replace the cat with a straight pipe, should be fine wouldnt even worry about the air tube going to it, and it will be fine.

but if u want after that you can go through and delete smog pump and a.i.r tubes on the manifolds.

for 2, no it wouldnt be bad, most people run around with a cutout and thats before the cat(s).

 

So there are no sensors near or inside the cats on thirdgens, because I was told that, I think the person the O2 sensor. And also is the air tube that line that runs into the cat? I guess I just thought that it would be a bigger process. Thanks

 

The 02 sensor is in the manifold, no the cat.

I'm pretty sure you can just block off the AIR tube.
