single or duel

what is the most common system on these cars,, i have a good strong 409ci vortec heads ets,,,750 etc,
i am going to the exhaust shop to get prices on a custom system,, this car is right hand drive so a custom system is all i can get,,,,shorty 1 3/4 headers into a 3 inch y pipe then what,,,,,,,,,i dont want a loud system that will drive me nuts driving this thing on freeways,, i just want to get the gasses out and get a beefy note,,,i will use a single 3 inch cat, then what is most common,, single or duel from the cat back,, i want performance most of all ,, not many of these cars here,,,not much to go on,,just this site at this stage

I never seen one that went from a single y-pipe to duals on a thirdgen. They have either been duals all the way or single all the way. Then of course the muffler on the singles could have dual exits. But by far the most popular is the aftermarket single 3 inch catback. But duals are gaining popularity as more people figure out better ways to make them fit.

Your motor would probably make more HP with a 3.5 inch or bigger system but it seems to be harder to find systems bigger than 3 inches at reasonable prices.

From what i have read if you're throwing out more than 300 hp duals is the way to go. Less and a good 3inch mandrel bent system is fine. I'm assuming since you have the 409 you either already have that 300hp or can get it very very easially. I'd suggest duals, sounds like your car is a good canidate for it. Only question is $
