Man, I have a set of SLP 1 3/4" headers and have taken them off to have them JET HOT coated. Of course I need new gaskets. I called SLP and they charged me 43 bucks for two doughnuts and (header to head) gaskets. Damn, I don't plan on buying anything from SLP anymore. The header to head gaskets are one time only, for a little more I could buy copper gaskets! Just though you might like to know about SLP pricing and thanks for letting me vent.

 

Well dont buy the copper gaskets for slp headers. They dont seal worth a dam. I believe it is because of the 3 piece header flange that slp uses. Also after measuring and comparing the copper AND regular gaskets, The slp gaskets align with the headers and exhaust ports better than other aftermarket stuff.
After that revelation I called SLP TECH and they said that standard exhaust gaskets will work fine and the copper gaskets dont work at all with their header. The standard header gasket will eventually get burned thru and match up to the port better. Not the copper.
Especially if your running D shape exhaust ports on your heads.

 

Update: While I had my headers off I decided to check for flange warping. I have had my headers for 3 years but have only put 500 miles on them. Would'nt ya know that they ARE warped! Needless to say I was very disappointed. I called SLP fully expecting to be screwed but much to my suprise they were very accomodating. They said that all I had to do was pay shipping and they would fix/replace the headers at no charge. I must say I am IMPRESSED! At least with premium pricing I get premium service! Just though I would let others know of my experience.

 

yeah prices seem high but like u said u will be suprised what a company with a good/long history will do. i bought these headers because of them being stainless then got them coated also. should be the only set i will ever need.

good to know if i have any problems slp and/or the place i bought them at will get a call.
