how do they flow and do they hold up well. would i kill it if the motor ran rich for too long?

i have had 2 catco's so far and well the first one i basiclly killed from running too rich during the winter and came time for inspection i wouldnt not pass. i got a new one and well that was on for about 3 months and now sits in my garage becuz of my current exuast.
