those of you with SLP Tri-Y's...need help with y-pipe fitment
Hey guys,
I cant get my y-pipe for my SLP Tri-Y's to fit right......the headers are bolted and when I crawled under the car to fit the Y-Pipe on, it doesnt line up correctly when I have both pieces already together. So I just loose bolted the passenger side but cant get the drivers side to line up right.....I can slip the end into the other piece but when I swing it up the flange has got a big gap on one side of it......its kinda hard to explain its like the slip fit part is not angled correctly.....but the bottom line is I can get them to fit right....who here has Tri-Y's?....can you tell me how you installed the Y-pipe?
I know and hope they cant be that far off..(warped) Y-pipe that is...
You think the muffler shop can fab something up?
is it ok to drive with just shorty headers on and not have a y-pipe hooked up......will it be safe to the motor?

I have the same problem with mine. It seems SLP goofed on our Y-pipes. When I setup mine it would not line up also. It looks like the pipe that runs under the oil pan is to long on mine and needs to be cut in the middle and rewelded shortening the pipe.

You think a muffler shop can get them to fit and line up correctly?
On mine, the drivers side pipe seems to be correct but the angle on the end that slips into the passenger pipe seems to ber off....doesnt look like it to long...hell I dont know......Ive done had the Y-pipe coated and now it looks like Im going to have to get a shop to hack on them......
anyone else got any idea? wherea all the peeps that have Tri-Y's ....I know your out there.....

I would have a muffler shop cut and weld to proper fit. It would probably be cheaper also than to pay shipping to SLP for a replacement. Or you could have a custom Y-pipe made as a last resort.

anyone ele got some ideas?
other than being loud as hell, is it ok to drive with just shortie headers and thats it? if I do need to drive to a muffler shop and have them bend the pipe or fab something up....I dont want to hurt the engine if its not....
