Flowmaster still not loud enough
Flowmaster isn't loud enough for me I just bought a 40 series and its still to quiet I want to try the Spintech Pro Shoot out muffler next. But what would it sound like with a cat and where do you buy them? I can’t even find them on eBay and 99.50 on the website is insane! I know it is stainless but wow! And I have never heard it in person so… should I try it??

Go for it. I have a spintech sportsman split case (street), but I've heard that their race mufflers are really loud. I too was thinking about stepping up to the pro shoot out. As far as pricing, I think your best bet would be (if you can't find one cheap on e bay) to buy it through a muffler shop and just have them install it. You can often find good deals at these places. I got a little spintech prostreet welded up on my dad's truck for $75 at a local shop. The spintechs sound amazing. I'm surprised that 40 series isn't loud enough though, I thought that was there loudest series?

i also like loud exhaust and I have the flowmaster american thunder cat-back. Im pleased with it, its pretty damn loud. A lot of it has to do with the rest of exhaust too as well as the motor. Just changing the muffler with any muffler no matter what it is isnt going to always give you justice. Headers change sound as well. I got a vid of my car running if you wanna hear it. It doesnt have the original 305 tho but a beefer carbed 355. It wouldnt sound as loud with the 305.
My point - Try looking into a full catback and maybe some shorty headers or something. You will be pleased.

exaclty.....I can tell a difference form a 5.0 and a 5.7 like nothing...the 5.7 is much louder and deeper....people have argued with me, saying that they sound the same (with an after market muffler)....but they don't at all....

very stock sounding quiet exhaust.
and then get a elec cutout.
because if you dont like the flowmaster because its not "loud" enough, you wont like any muffler.
so you might as well get it out of the way and put a cutout in.
the quiet muffler is for when its 3am, you have a headache, and you have to go by 8 cops on the way home, all itching for a reason to pull someone over.
or
for when you have a girl in the car..... or whenever..
it gives you the noise you want with the option of being quiet when needed.

The thing that sucks about spintech is that they don't make a cat-back for our cars. I wouldn't suggest open headers even if you want loud because (maybe it's just me) that could get irritating REAL quick. Solution: a cut-out, but that's no fun for us California people. What about the SLP loudmouth? Not really a muffler but the next best thing.

maybe i just need a bigger motor i love the way the 40 sounds(deep mellow) but it's not loud enough and raspy at high RPM probebly do to stock cam and being a little 305 maybe i should use the 99.50 as a payment on my credit card and buy a 350

Give the Flowmaster a while, they get louder over time. Then I rebuilt it and put flat tops instead of dished and went with a 204/ 214 cam. It sounded quite a bit better after that.
Then I ditched the smogger heads and weany cam, and rasied the compression about a point, and now it's pretty damn loud. Cool sounding, but pretty loud. The flowmasters sound alot better on a built engine than on a stock 305.

Mine's loud
Single 3" in and out and it's a little larger than a Kleenex box.EDIT: I should add this... After swapping in the 350, the exhaust sounded much louder and a bit different, raspier. With the 305 it still sounded good but not as loud as it is now.
