Need your opinions!

Hey guys,

I can get a set of used Edelbrock headers with y-pipe part number #6871 (I know it’s for the LG4!) for a decent price and would like to know if I should go for it or let it pass. I’m not planning on building a dragster out of my car I just want to have a nice ride cruising around and earring a sweet exhaust tone. I just want to un-chocked the exhaust to gain those extra horsepower. The only other mods I’m planning to do later on would be intake and cam and of course a catback (Hooker). I don’t want these headers to create a restriction because the header collectors are only 2”1/4 going into 2”1/2 y-pipe with a 3” slip-on cat inlet. I believe the primaries are 1”5/8. Correct me if I’m wrong. I really am not a expert in exhaust!

Thanks a lot!

1985 LG4 Z-28 all stock!

It'll be better than stock, but not as good as it could be. Even if you go for it, you'll need a better flowing cat & on back as well.

You'll have to decide if the difference in price between this used system and a new, more optimal system is enough to justify going with the less optimum system.

I agree and unless you get them for free save the money on a little better system.

Thanks for the replies guys,

I’m doing the complete exhaust all at once: headers, cat and catbak. I live in Canada and down here the cheapest headers and Y-pipe are Hedman I believe and they go for $500 plus tax (around $380 US). That’s why I’m considering those headers. I could probably get them for half that price and they were only use for one summer. Still a good idea or I should save and wait?

Thanks again!!!
