40 or 80?
wow this is tough should I go with a 80 series muffler or a 40? I have a bone stock 91 z with dual cats and the 3 inch pipe to the stock muffler. The flowmaster site says the 80 series is the loudest and the 40 series is moderate lol.

I have the 40 on my Z, no cats, 3" mandrel bent, with 3'' tips. And boy is it loud. Personally I wouldnt go any louder, but it depends on your taste. I see that you dont have headers, and with the cats you should be alot softer. I'll tell you from my expeirence that having cats or not is what makes it loud. I didnt notice much of a power,or noise increase until I deleted the cats. Anyway hope I was some help......

I have the 40 series on an otherwise stock exh system.
Some people think it's loud, but it seems pretty nice to me. Any louder tho, would be attracting unwanted attention.

If you want dual tips go with the 80's, if you are OK with single go with the 40's. IMO 40's sound better/louder.

Thanks for the input. I think im just gonna put a 80 series on there and later in the future delete the cats with a 3 inch pipe. We'll see.

I have Hooker super comp headers with 3" exhaust back to (no cat) 80 series flowmaster 3in 3out (custom). It sounds great. I like it alot. If you visit the flowmaster website you can hear the different muffler sounds before you buy them.

I have the 80 series Flowmaster(3 inch in and dual 2.5 inch out) on my stock TBI 305 Firebird and its quieter than the 40 series. The resonance of the sound is alot higher instead of a deep sound of a 40 series muffler which can be a rather smooth sound.
click the link in my info, all the camaros in that movie have 80 series muffles. the grey camaro is running a full 3 inch system with manifold. the other one is stock with ony a 80 series flowmaster and an air cleaner lol(hey im still in highschool)
i love the sound of my 80 series, wish it was louder inside the car though. i love exhaust noise

p.s- nothing is better than going to the mall or movies on a friday night in the summer where all the hotties are...and purposly creeping around at 1000RPM while looking for a space and having everyone look at you.
