Wow does that look good. I take it that you are putting that cut out in place of the cat? I wish Hooker made those headers without the AIR tubes. Did I mention how good that looks!! Just don't scrape the hell out of them when you install them. I malled my ceramic finish a bit when I put my blowtechs in.

I was just wondering, what is the outlet diameter of that y-pipe. I have the hedman y, and that dwarfs mine.

Hey there is nothing wrong with rolling around in a 305....
I would like to get some headers some day.. It still makes a noticeable difference wether its a 350 or 305...

Check the sticky out at the top of the page, but the hooker y pipe is the best available period. It has mandrel bent 2.5 inch pipes that merge into 1 single 3 inch pipe.

Cool thing is that you can buy them for your 305 and then if you want to change to a 350 later you can use the same system...

I got the same headers and Y pipe from ACS and am putting them on my 305...but eventually they will be on a 350.

Does anyone know if I can buy just the ypipe and is it a direct replacement? I have been looking for one that is reasonably priced that will really be a direct replacement for the stocker. I have tried:

MAC-- a little pricey at $150+ and it goes to 3" for the cat

Hedman-- wrong type flange to bolt to the manifolds, but right price;$99 at Jegs. I was thinking of cutting off the header flanges and putting the stockers on there.

OEM Replacement--$150, don't really want those nasty bends.

I just want a nice piece with smooth bends that replaces the stock unit and will hook into my new cat and catback. Just aluminized steel; nothing fancy. It is hard to find something like this. I have searched the web, called local shops.

it wont fit with the stock manifolds. Wouldn't want it to anyways. Just get the headers included.

The Headers and Y pipe all coated from acs costs around $650 shipped. I would just save up for a while and get the best you can.

Yeah, money isn't the issue really. I have the money, I'm just cheap. Let me say it this way, I am a 'value shopper'.

I have looked into getting headers for it. I had the tes on my 92 and liked them. I just don't want to drop $350 for headers.

Before I do that I need to replace the carpet, recover my visors, and repaint. So, there are other things I need to divert my cash to before I do anymore mods.

Thanks!

2055's - right??

Can you get them from Hooker coated or not? In the Jegs catalog they talk about some coating ("thermal barrier coated....") so I was just wondering if you could get them coated from Hooker too?

They are quite beautiful for a set of pipes!

Hooker charges more! If I remember right it was about $700 through summit without the Y pipe coated. Through ACS it costs a little less with everything coated(a much better job then Hooker..Trust me, I've seen hooker's coatings), tax, and shipping. Go with ACS if you want to get them coated.

And don't be cheap. With most things in life you get what you pay for....the exception is ebay

I hear ya man. I've many a time learned my lesson about going cheap for short-term reasons only to regret it in the long term. That's precisely why I asked - I've got a budget to spend right now and I'm trying to see what mods I can fit into this budget while also prioritizing things that need doing with the car. I think for now I'm gonna spread the funds across multiple other areas that need attention rather than dump them all into headers now and later save up for some ACS coated headers. I gotta just get some good solid sub frames installed - just gotta quit procrastination on that!!

Appreciate it -
K

if you don't want to scatch up your headers just wrap them with some bubble rap or maybe some papertowels and duct tape, then you can just pull it off when you're finnished
