Coating as durable as stainless?
Coating as durable as stainless?
I always wanted stainless steel headers, and then SLP disco'd its tri-y. Is it true that with a coating, non-stainless headers are almost as durable as ss?

slp's headers will still develop surface rust, don't believe the hype, it's a lower grade 409 stainless.

Hello, All stated above is true, It is a very low grade stainless, we always get askes "why coat my y-pipe,? It is SS.) The answer is #1 it is most likely to get wet being @ the underside of the car and the welds are not SS thus prone to accelerated rusting and #2 the thermal reducing properties of the ceramic coating help keep the fluids cooler in the oil and trans pan. You can research the rust warranty on the SS VS. the ceramic coating and that will tell you alot. The coating also improves the flow as colder gasses mover quicker and more efficiently, As well as the beauty of highly polished aluminum that does not blue or discolor. All you have to do is polish them every now and then with alum. polish like your alum. wheels!!!
