new exhaust, suggestions?
hey guys, might be selling my dj equipment and with that money, I will be getting the 400 sbc built and a 700r4 or 200r4. however since it has a v6 I need new exhaust. I belive in trying to do it right the first time.... seeing as how its hard to cram true dual into a camaros undercarriage without scrificing ground clearance.... I would probably go with a single 4", why a 4" just because lol. anyways what kind of muffler do you guys recomend? I'm looking for somethign that sound really nice but not heard often. the 4th gen sound, usually a borla muffler is somethign I think I woudl go for, seeing as how it seems to be more of a 'modern sound' compared to say.... dual flowmaster 40's such as my 80 malibu. doesn't suit the camaro to me, unless it was a bracket car, which isn't my intention.
cheers

On my IROC I have the Random Tech cat back from Spohn. Sounds great, flows great, has dual 3" tail pipes and looks good.
But since you want the 4" I'd go with just a 4" dynomax bullet!

sounds like a mufflex 4" catback is what you need. They offer it with the flowmaster or the spintech muffler. The spintech is supposed to sound great with the power on but mild while just cruising. I think someone on the classifieds section of this website is selling a 4" muffler right now for cheap.
I just read someones post the other day that had a single 4" mufflex I think it was but in the place of the cat they had put a straight through bullet style racing muffler in addition to having a muffler out back in the stock location. That apparently breaks up the sound closer to the motor while still keeping good exhaust flow. Just a suggestion.
good luck with that.

I believe that Mufflex is the ONLY company that makes
the 4" exhaust system. You can even get 3.5" also.
They told me that the 3.5" system is good to 350hp max.
After that amount of hp, they recommend the 4" system.
So if you are making like 385hp at the flywheel, go with
the 4" system. You can get either a Flowmaster muffler,
or the Spintech muffler. You can also choose between
a single exit tailpipe, or the traditional dual exit tailpipes.
But the dual exit tailpipe system is like $120 more.
