LT's + y vs. shorties +y
Hi, I have a stock tpi 305 and 5-speed (no peanut cam here), and was wondering if the increased flow restriction on shorties with its very curvy y-pipe would make enough of a difference for me to notice vs. the very straight LT's and y-pipe.
I've read that a full exhaust is worth about 30hp or so rwhp, true? On g92 cars? I've already pretty much decided on the hooker 3" catback (thanks in no small part to Mark's bragging).
And last, I plan on swapping to the SDPC tpi crate motor next winter, which would be better for that motor (shorties or LT's)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Long tubes will always make more power but give up ground clearance along with a lot of fab work. They are better suited to motors that make lots of power. Shorties will be just fine for your 305 no matter how "built" you make it. Even if you go with a 350 I would only consider long tubes if you are making way past the 450hp mark.
