Cheapest 3" cat back system?

Where can I find a good CATBACK system for my ride for not to much money?

I have the stock system and thinking the CB will/might give me some extra power?

If you're looking for a Flowmaster exhaust (or chambered), then go 3".

But if you want a straight-thru muffler, I'd recommend going 2.25"-2.5" (for dual-exhaust setup).

Im looking for just the CAT system...I already have the flowmaster muffler..but now Im thinkin that the in/out of the muffler is 2.5 so that will not work with a 3"pipe...huh?

heres my exhaust now all the way to the 3" pipe where the CAT used to be...

check out where I had to close the #" pipe at one end to match the outlet side of the SLP's...I wonder if that causing any type of restriction?

Yes, that should work. Flowmaster recommends 3" piping w/ their mufflers (having 2.5" inlet/oulet).

Your setup looks nice!

Im looking for just the CB tubing, I already have the flowmaster muffler installed, been there for the last 3 years.

Where can I go to get the 3" tubing? It doesnt have to be flows just 3" mandrel bent stuff.

thanks!

Any muffler shop can fabricate a CB tubing for you. I'm guessing it can cost from 60 to 80 bucks.

Try Midas. You should also call private shops if they do mandrel bending. They're usually cheaper than Midas.

Did you try Dynomax? They have a nice selection on there site listing each pipe with its part number. You should be able to get what you need there.

They are only 2.5". By the time you have a shop fab up a 3" mandrel system you can have Jegs, summit, or thunder racing send you one for the same price. If all out flow numbers are on your mind I would not look at flow master. However, any cat back will be better than stock.

So you're looking for just the 3" mandrel bent intermediate and over-the-axle pipes, right? The stock pipe you're using now should be 2 3/4". But I think it narrows at the muffler inlet to 2 1/2".

Agreeing with Shifty, a muffler shop would be high. They'd probably have to send for the tubes(like you have on your system already, which would be pricey) then weld it all up(again, not cheap).

As for cat-back system prices, I think a safe budget for nearly any aluminized cat-back system would be in the $300 range, more for stainless, of course. But since you've already got the Flowmaster muffler, have you asked Flowmaster about just those two pipes? At least they could tell you how or if a 3" will mate to your muffler's inlet.

I'm not so sure about all Dynomax catbacks being 2.5". I have one on my 1991 Z28 with dual cats, and its 2.75" from the end of the Y-pipe for about 8 - 10" and then expands to 3" the rest of the way, over the axel into the muffler as 3" with two 2 1/2" tailpipes. System# 17484. Any good shop can expand the 2.75" section to 3", at least that's my understanding. Anything more than 1/4" expansion depends on the thickness of the pipe. I just bought a Banks system and its Mandrel bent and 3" the entire length of the I-pipe over the axel and into the muffler.
