hooker or edelbrock

i was just wondering what is a better cat back for the third gens i am ordering it for my 1992 i am sort of leaning toward the hooker system because it is cheaper by almost a hundred dollars and it comes with chrome tips but which one sounds better and is a nicer system

You will be happier with either. I have never heard the edelbrock system but the Hooker is hard to beat.

i was also wondering will the 83-85 exhaust fit a 1992 with a slip on cat . isnt the only difference the four bolt flange and if i cut that off it will be the same as my 3 inch cat right?

The exahust routing throughout the years never changed. However the cat and pipe size did between models. Chances are the 83 thru 85 kit will only fit with a little fab work. Why not get the one specific for your year?

The only difference is how it mates to the cat. Other than that the kit is the same. It may be cheaper in the long run to get your model year specific if you cannot do the fab work yourself.

For the most part. Your 92 cat should accept a 4 bolt flange as well but there may be a slight alignment or hanger difference between the two. I am not familiar with the earlier set-ups to be certian. Either way you should be fine and come out 60 bucks cheaper.

no what i was saying is that i have just a catco slip on 3 inch highflow cat that i ordered with my edelbrock headers and y pipe. i would have to cut the flange off to mate the exhaust with the cat. the pipe will just slip inside the cat and sometimes the exhaust pipe is an oval shape going into the flange so i might have to round it back out with a mallet or something. then i will just make another custon hanger.
