Loud Exhuast?

I notice my exhuast on my car is pretty loud for a stock exhuast. It seems tho when i start off or put pressure on the motor it is louder in the front. I have already replaced the exhuast manifold gaskets along with Y pipe dounuts (not the cheap serramic ones) and I have a whole new exhuast cat back. I was wondering if my cat is bad, not sure if its the orignal one or not, but sounds loud by the cat and in front of the cat where the Y pipe goes up? Could the cat be no good and cause the exhuast to be very loud in the Y pipe? I also put my hand down by the Y pipe and felt around the dounut, doesn't seem to be leaking and revved the motor up with my hand there. Any ideas? How can i tell if my cat is bad? Should I take it off? Thanks guys

I decided to take it off tonight, but which CAT do i get to replace it, the direct fit for 93.00 or the universal for 65.00. What do you think would be better? I noticed that now my Y pipe moves alot up and down, is that normal or is that a problem, could that habe been why its loud? Thanks man

Your Y-pipe shouldn't move. It should be solid as a rock.
