Dual mufflers?
I want to replace the exhaust that is on my T/A, but I don't know where to get it or what brand it is. I bought the car 2 years ago, added slp headers, carb, intake ect. The car sounds great right now, but the exhaust is ready to give out. My car has daul mufflers, simimlar to a vette style setup. The exhaust pipe turns into duals just ahead of the rear axle, then tees back into a single ( i think 2 1/2") pipe that feeds two small mufflers and out the tail pipe. Has anybody seen this or know where to get it?
Thanks

That kinda sounds like the exhaust that came on the '82 Z28... I could be wrong though.
I've seen that before too. A neighbor had an 82Z with like 16000 miles on it. It had the two little mufflers in the back like that, he said it cam stock that way. He also said they were flowmasters. Dunno if it's accurate, but he owned the car since new.

When I heard people talking about this system, I thought they were nuts because my V6 system was routed and looked just like the '86 V8 system, just with smaller pipes. Then, somebody posted the Walker parts book page, and sure enough, that's what they did.
Perfect example of the factory going to great lengths to make it look like they are doing something that they really aren't doing. It isn't a true dual system, mixes the worst of a single and dual system, etc.
Best bet would be to replace the entire system with a later single muffler system, including cat. Like one for the '86-'90 TPI single cat application.

Dynomax makes "one" what?
A dual muffler system like '82-'83?
A single-cat, single muffler system like '86-'90 TPI?
I looked through all of the Dynomax listings in Summit's exhaust section, they're all single muffler, and all 2-1/2" I-pipe. Yuck!

dynomax makes a 3inch in and out ultra flow muffler that i am thinking about purchasing. i'd really like to get a spintech setup, but i am unsure if a stock style setup will fit with my sumped gas tank. anyone sumped a tank and maintained the stock style setup? (i'm talking about the routing of the pipes, not the stock exaust)
BTW if your thinking of running ture duals, BMR makes a panhard support bracket that is lowered and bent to fit 2 3inch pipes up and over the axel. i'm loving that company more and more...
