air hose out of cat

Hey guys i know im a pain but I finally have my headers installed hedman shortys without air pipes. There was a hose i disconnected its all shot up anywyas was from cat to some hose in engine bay area whats this called? Is it important? How do i go about replacing it i showed the guys at autozone and he was like i have no idea what thats for he said that wasnt anything that came with car. Its 85 camaro berlinetta 305 thanks in advance

That is your AIR tube from your smog pump/exhaust manifolds. It is really best if you use a cat that does not need an AIR tube when you go with non AIR hedders. You can clog your cat up over time if you are not within 1% of stochiometric combustion. Most 3rd gen cars are not once they are modded with the stock tune. I run a cat with a capped AIR tube but I know I am on limited time before it clogs. This tube is useless once you go with non AIR hedders.
