slide fit cat

i have a 2.8. I was just curious how the cat is held on at the front side (i know there is a clamp at the back side). It appears to be a slide fit connection where the cat slides over the Y-pipe. My cat (i think) is making a bit of noise and I would like to remove it and take a peek. Just it just slide off or is there some sort of cement or something used to hold it on???

There's no "cement". It's either welded or clamped on. Either way, something typically has to be destroyed in order to remove it (notice I said "typically" - you may be able to get it off w/o destroying something).
